monologue

This is the monologue the I am doing can I talk like a pirate?  Ay, matie!  Avast! Ahoy!  Aye-aye, I can!   Shiver me timbers! I can talk like a pirate better than any lily-livered, jelly-legged sea-goer that ever there once was!  I say whatever I’ve got to say in a pirate way and if any bilge-sucking buccaneer says I don’t, I’ll leave him to the brisket!  I swear on Davy Jones’ Locker, to be a true blue pirate you’ve got to be able to load a cannon and fire it- but most important you’ve got to talk like a pirate!

My strengths

Last term we did a worksheet about our strengths these are my top five strengths. 

1. Gratitude means to appreciate things in life like food, family, clothes and other things.

• I show gratitude when I get given stuff and I don’t complain about the things I get. It is important to show gratitude because some people don’t have things that you might get.

2. Hope means you're likely to be a positive person even if things aren't great you’ll believe they’re going to improve.

• I show hope by staying positive when things are down or something. It is important to show hope because when things get hard you still believe things will get better.

3. Forgiveness is if you do something wrong or other people do something wrong, and you're willing to forgive them and move on. 

• I show forgiveness by forgiving some people when things happen that they might do. It is important to show forgiveness because it makes you empathetic and doesn’t hold a grudge.

4. Love is where you show you listen, care and make people feel important so you are really good at building strong relationships.

- I have shown love by helping my parents out with some stuff.

5. Humility is where you don’t show off because you don’t have to. You let other people notice your skills and knowledge, and don’t worry about trying to convince them you’re “all that”.

- I show humility by keeping my head down and trying to finish my work on time.

Summary of History show

Today we were watching one of our videos in social studies. It was about the New Zealand Wars. Then the missionaries thought that there was a spy around them so they killed the man they thought was a spy. Then there was a Maori that was going to ambushing British and they killed seven people in 1864.

A bit later in the story, the New Zealand war was dragged on for about 20 years 3000 people died but 2000 of those people were Maori. There was also a man called Te Kuiti who stole a supply ship from the British in 1868  and then he started a war with the British.  Someone tried to stop the war but the Maori had an advantage because they already had a plan set out.

Matariki

Matariki is seven stars in the sky and they found two more stars in the sky. Matariki is a celebration for the Maori The Matariki and it's the star for the Heralds new year. And it’s also about celebrating family The coming of Matariki symbolized the harvest festival. You can see Matariki from early June before the sunrise lookout to the north-east hhorizon.

Maori-how to make a Hangi

In Maori, we are learning about how to make a hangi. First, you need to dig a hole in the ground for the food. Then you need to build a fire at the bottom of the pit using hardwood. After that pile volcanic rocks on top of the wood. Then Set the fire alight and leave it to burn. Once the fire has burnt out, the rocks should be white-hot. Then prepare the food. After that place, the food in the Hangi put the meat at the bottom and vegs at the top. Then cover the food with white cloths and they have to be wet and then put dirt on top then after 3 - 4 hours uncover the hangi, and remove the food and enjoy your Hangi.

Tane Mahuta

Today in Tane mahuta some people were planting the vegetables for the garden. There where four vegetables one of them where cauliflower, broccoli, beetroot, cabbage and we had some people that we're cleaning out the shed that is going to be turned it to a classroom. There were some people that were weeding the garden with Mark and there were people that were using hammers to break up the wooden tables and throw them into a pile.

Science safety equipment

Today I am going to talk about safety rules in a science lab and some equipment that we use In a science hurumanu our science teacher Mr palmer Told us 10 of the equipment that we use in the science lab and 10 safety rules in the lab that we have to do. I didn't have time to do the rest

Here are some safety rules In a science lab.
1.No running in the lab because you could knock someone over that is holding a test tube or you could break something.
2. Keep your bag under your desk or a table.
3. If you brake a glass you should tell the teacher and then clean it up and not leave it for someone else to clean up.
4.No eating or drinking in and no smelling the experiments.
5. Only use the equipment that you are told to use.
